Agenda for our 2012 McAuley-Swann Family Reunion in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
It is nearing that time again. We have made plans for our 2012 trip to Paradise Tower at
Myrtle Beach, SC. Our plans are for the bus riders to leave Sanford at 10:00 a.m. for Myrtle
Beach on Friday, Sept. 7. When we arrive at Myrtle Beach, we will verify the registrations
and room assignments. Later that evening of Friday, Sept. 7, we will attend The Pirate's
Voyage where dinner will be served along with the show. On Saturday, Sept. 8, we will
choose from many activities of what we want to do such as area shopping, enjoying the
beach, Broadway at the Beach, Kiddie Center or various other attractions. On Saturday
evening, Sept. 8, we will convene at Papa's Restaurant for dinner and other activities. On
Sunday, Sept. 9, after check-out, we will board the bus and leave Myrtle Beach for Sanford,
NC.
Oceanfront Deluxe Suite (V) - 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds in one bedroom, 1 wall bed
that pulls from wall and sleeps 2 in another area of the suite: $142 per night (2 nights)
Oceanfront Superior Suite (W) - 2 bedrooms with 2 queen beds in each bedroom (4), 2 full
baths, one jacuzzi, washer and dryer, kitchen: $210 per night (2 nights)
Oceanfront 3 bedroom suite (X) - a king bed in 2 of the bedrooms and 2 queen beds in the
3rd bedroom, 2 full baths, one jacuzzi, kitchen, sitting area, HD flat screen TV's, washer and
dryer: $243 per night (2 nights)
Oceanfront 3 bedroom suite (Y) - 2 queen beds in each bedroom (6), full kitchen,
washer/dryer, 2 baths, 2 balconies, HD flat screen TV's, sitting area: $243 per night (2 nights)
Remember that we will be staying for 2 nights.
Bus:
from Sanford to Myrtle Beach and return: $70
riding in Myrtle Beach only: $30
Pirates Voyage:
Adults: (12 and older): $42
Children: (4-11 years): $25
Children: (3-infant): no charge as long as they sit on parent's lap and/or eat from their
plates
Meal consists of creamy vegetable soup and cheese biscuit, 1/2 roasted chicken, barbecued
pork shank (rib), mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, apple pie (turnover). A fork will be
provided.
Papa's Restaurant: $20 per meal per person (all who eat)
Deadline for receiving all money for the trip: June 30, 2012.
Review all of the accommodations and complete the registration form (Download Here) and return it to Bettie
McAuley as soon as possible.
Make sure all of the names of persons sharing suites are included on this form. Please make checks payable to McAuley-Swann Family Reunion and send them to our treasurer, Bettie McAuley, 857 McFarland Road, Broadway, NC 27505.
The deadline for receipt of the money for this event is June 30, 2012. Even if you decide to pay in installments, the deadline for the final payment is June 30, 2012. Even if you decide not to attend, we still need the completed form indicating your intention. The cost per individual for the suites will be determined by the number of adults who share
the suite. For instance, if there are 4 persons sharing a room, you should add the room price for the two nights, then divide that sum by 4. That amount will be your share. If there are 6 sharing, add the room price for 2 nights, then divide that sum by 6. List all of the names of the persons sharing that suite and indicate the suite type, such as V, W, X or Y. After you've determined your suite cost, add the cost of Pirate's Voyage, Papa's Restaurant dinner per person and the bus price. If you know of other names, addresses and/or phone numbers of persons who you'd like to receive this correspondence, please call or e-mail me with all of their information so they can be added to the list.

It is our plan to have the Fashion Show & Musical Segment as part of our reunion program again this year in September since it was so enjoyable last time. If you are interested in modeling, singing or another type of entertainment, please let me know as soon as possible as we would like to get everything organized. Make sure we can contact you to give you any needed information if you plan to participate. Both parts are open to male, female, seniors & young. It will take place on Saturday evening at the banquet. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you all.

Family Reunion Meeting Information

President Larry McAuley began our monthly meeting with request for a prayer. Will J.
McAuley gave the opening prayer. Both the minutes and treasurer's report were read silently
by the group prior to the commencement of the meeting and were approved. Larry
apologetically told the group that he did not get the tickets printed in time for the meeting of
April 21, but would have them before our next session. Vice-President Clarence McAuley
said that he's now on FaceBook and invited us to visit him there.
Some of the items that were discussed are the accessory rooms at Papa's Restaurant where
we will have the banquet, fashion and talent show, dancing, other programming. Both the
picture taking session and dance music were discussed in length. Larry and Gladys McAuley
will be going to Myrtle Beach in May and will make visual checks at the places that we'll visit
during our September trip. They'll be checking to verify that there is adequate space and/or
areas for changing clothes for the fashion show as well as dancing and taking pictures. They
said that there were several rooms in which to facilitate all of our plans, but will report back
after their visit. Larry explained that they plan to have each family who wants to be
photographed to pose for a designated family photographer and at this time, anyone who
wants to use their own cameras to photograph any posing family can do it at the same time.
We discussed the possibility of getting a disc jockey from the local area to provide music.
This will be checked into as well. We have to be considerate of the extra cost that a deejay
would cause, but we're looking at all viable options. Faye Greaux agreed to be in charge of
choosing the type of music and working with how it will be presented. We discussed
possibilities of using music from playlists on either the ipad, ipod or iphone or any
smartphone that can be connected to speakers. Pat McKenzie told Faye that if she needed
to use either of her devices and speakers for this social event, she could do that.
Clarence expressed the need for a compilation of archived records of the McAuley-Swann
Family Reunion meeting records and other pertinent information concerning the family
where a person can go to to find information from past or current reunions. We mentioned
that that information is on the website, computers, in notebook logs, etc. Pat McKenzie told
him that she would speak to Leo McKenzie III, our web master about this issue. She said
that it may already be available on the website since there are many features on the site that
most of us have not accessed. Since our website is being maintained pro bono (compliments
of Leo III), Pat will check with Leo III about this and will advise in our next meeting.
The treasurer and the executive board checked the list of rooms that are assigned and
realized that we need to request more suites in various areas. We will request these additions
as soon as possible. Larry asked Bettie if the response was good (meaning that the
members are sending their forms and funds) so far and she said that it is.
Carolyn asked for participants for the fashion and talent show. She reminded us that this
part of the program welcomes men, women and children to model and entertain.
After an inquiry to The Breakers, Pat McKenzie said that she received a reply from Miranda
Cotten, Group Sales & Catering Coordinator there saying that the resort would look into
the possibility of helping us get discounted tickets at Pirates Voyage although this is not a
practice that they normally do. She will let me know the results by next week.
Both the program committee and the executive board planned to meet briefly today
following the member's meeting.

The donation that was collected today was: $38.00.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Love Grove
Church, 796 Love Grove Church Road, Sanford, NC 27332. We expect to see you there on
that date.
